Today, Dr. Tamer Shafik, Group CIO, participated in the prestigious ECPC 2026 competition hosted at the main headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria.

Dr. Tamer Shafik was a key speaker in the panel discussion titled “The Talent Code: What Tech Giants and Global Hubs Actually Look For in Engineers”, organized by Career 180. He was joined by prominent technology leaders Eng. Mostafa Elnahas (CEO of Fawry) and Eng. Mohamed Saleh (CIO of Ahly Momken), in a session moderated by Mr. Alaa Saleh.

During the panel, Dr. Tamer Shafik provided deep insights into the industrial sector’s technological needs speciallyin ElSewedyIndustriesgroup. He highlighted the most sought-after emerging skills in the local market, including Internet of Things (IoT), Edge Computing, and Operational Data Analytics.

Furthermore, he elaborated on how to effectively evaluate young engineers based on their ability to apply theoretical technical knowledge to complex, real-world business and engineering problems. He also shed light on what defines “global-caliber” engineering talent within large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects as opposed to pure software roles.
